Duratron® PAI

Duratron® PAI

Duratron PAI polyamide-imide (PAI) profiles are well-established, widely used and proven in both extrusion and moulding grades. In high temperature applications, this advanced material combines excellent mechanical properties with very good dimensional stability.
Duratron PAI is the highest performance, meltable plastic. It has outstanding high temperature resistance. Operates at high load pressures and sustained temperatures up to 260°C. Parts machined from Duratron profiles have higher compressive and impact strengths than most advanced engineering plastics.
Duratron PAI's extremely low coefficient of linear thermal expansion and high creep resistance give it excellent dimensional stability. Duratron PAI is an amorphous material with a glass transition temperature of 280°C.

Duratron T4301 PAI
Compared to unfilled grades, Duratron T4301 PAI (color: black), with the addition of PTFE and graphite, has higher wear resistance, lower coefficient of friction, and lower stick-slip tendency, and over a wide temperature range, Has excellent dimensional stability. This extrusion grade Duratron PAI material excels in high friction applications such as non-lubricated bearings, seals, bearing cages, reciprocating compressor components and more. The Duratron T4501 PAI adopts a molding process, which is similar to the Duratron T4301 PAI in composition, and is usually selected when large-sized profiles are required.
Bearing cage
Duratron T4203 and T4301 PAI's extremely low expansion rate and excellent wear resistance enable bearings to operate at higher speeds and longer parts life. (replaces previous materials: steel cover, hardened steel ball, bronze bushing)
Duratron T4501 PAI
Duratron T4501 PAI (color: black) is excellent for general purpose wear parts. It has high compressive strength and can carry heavier load pressures. It is similar in composition to Duratron T4301 PAl and is usually chosen when large gauge profiles are required.
Duratron T5530 PAI
This 30% glass fiber reinforced material (color: black) has higher stiffness, strength and creep resistance than other materials in the Duratron PAI series. It is ideal for use as a structural component that can withstand static loads at high temperatures for extended periods of time. In addition, Duratron T5530 PAI exhibits excellent dimensional stability at temperatures up to 260 °C and is very popular for precision components such as in the electronics and semiconductor industries. When Duratron T5530 PAI is used as a sliding part, the possible wear of the fiberglass to the mating surfaces should be taken into account.
Chip Nests and Sockets
Components machined from Duratron T5530 PAI have increased and extended test joint reliability and component life due to their dimensional stability over a wide temperature range.
